Prompt:

For this major project, you will be tasked with 3D modeling several different 3D scenes pertaining to a fictional film, television show, video game, book, etc.  Specifically, you will choose one of your favorite fictional stories and then create 3 different 3D scenes from that story.  1 3D scene from the beginning, 1 3D scene from the middle, and 1 3D scene from the ending.

Write-Up

For this project I decided that I will be 3D modeling several different 3D scenes from the animated movie "Meet the Robinsons". I was especially interested in the architecture from this movie because half of the scenes take place in the future 2037. The timeline is very interesting because we don't see the future at the end of the movie but in the middle. The first scene I chose is from the first few minutes of the movie, it's the orphanage building. The second scene comes from the middle of the movie but it's the future. I chose the building because it's not as complex as the other futuristic buildings and there's many geometric qualities that can be achieved. I couldn't find different views of the building so I will have to assume the back. The third scene takes place back in the present even though it's towards the end of the movie, Lewis sees his new home for the first time.

Scene 1: Orphanage

Scene 2: Robinson Industries

Scene 3: Lewis's new home

After I was finished modeling, I added 3 cameras to each scene and had them fly-through. I wanted the cameras to capture the entirety of each building so I had some navigate from top to bottom, others left to right and I also wanted one to get a close up. I tried to model the buildings as accurately as possible, with a bit more time I would have liked to add more elements to the outside of the buildings such as trees, bushes, fence or other buildings. There's many things that could be added or improved but I'm ultimately happy with the outcome.

I presented my video on Tuesday but before presenting I knew that there were still things I needed to add and improve. The scenes I chose didn't show much of the surroundings so my shots needed to be zoomed in to the structures. However, there was still space for adding more objects to make the environment and buildings look more united. I did that with the first scene but not with the last two. I wasn't sure what to do for the second scene so I just added bushes and trees. I also added bushes, a tree, and a fence to the last scene, they were low poly but it still improved the scene.
