Drawing from our exercises in-class and in labs, use the following image manipulation techniques, and any others you feel are applicable, to create a series of 8 cover art mock-ups for your book:

3 strongest images:

1. I chose the following image as one of the strongest, the image manipulation technique I used was layering and changing opacity. I chose this image because it combines multiple pictures from my book in DC#3 which I liked because it gives a small summary of what the book contains. I felt like this image matched the best with the book, they look like they belong together. It's a little abstract which makes it interesting to look at but there is still distinguishable imagery. Some feedback I received that informed this cover art was knowing when to stop and also positioning things so there is an equal and full layout. This cover art is a little busy, warm, and looks a little vintage which is the mood I was going for.

2. The following image is the second strongest, I used the Shepard Fairey Treatment on a barbie. I chose this image because it is the one that looks most like a cover. I also like how there is no blank space. Feedback challenged me because I was unsure whether to use the original Shepard Fairey colors or use my own. Someone said that these colors don't match with the content of the book but I still decided to keep it this way because I wanted it to be a true Shepard Fairey treatment. It might not look like a barbie but I think its still engaging.

3. This next image is the third strongest, this is a pixel sorted image. Before it was manipulated, it was a rubber ball. I chose this image because of how different it is from the rest of the covers. It's the most abstract, which I like because it is interesting to look at. The colors fit the mood of the book. From past feedback I learned that it's important to establish a mood and I think this cover does that.

Rest of the images:

4. The image manipulation technique I used for this cover art mock-up was Clip masking, the picture within the words is a little hard to distinguish, I prefer a cover with more art/pictures instead of text.

5. I appropriated the style of Sandy Skoglund for this image. I almost chose this image as one of the strongest but I feel like it gives off a sorrow mood which I do not want.

6. This image was manipulated and with TextEditor, the image was originally a Furby. I like how the glitches are from top to bottom but the colors don't match the theme/contents of my book.

7. I referenced David Hockney Photomontage for this cover art mock-up, this is one of the bears from my book, I didn't think this cover was very interesting to look at.

8. The cover art mock up below is an RGB shifted image. I really like the colors in this image but it doesn't match the color theme of my book.
