2nd Design Challenge: "W. Whitman famously said, "I am large, I contain multitudes". Your task is to photographically explore said multitudes as they relate to yourself and to another human-being. In each case, you will ultimately be addressing "who am I / who are you?".
Ideation:
- Come up with at least 10 ideas for how to capture yourself and 10 for how to capture your subject
- Pair each idea with portraiture or other imagery you've found online.
- Get feedback
MYSELF:
below is a picture of my initial Mind-Map:

10 Ideas (imagery in order):
- standing in nature, location is focal point
- nostalgia, feeling young: bubbles
- interesting perspective, view things differently
- silouette portrait, color is the focal point
- what gives your life meaning? education, learning
- what inspires you? Art, color
- Peace and Comfort
- who are you? private
- what makes me happy? sunflowers
- blending in to my surroundings
Feedback/Images I will pursue:
Some feedback I received was that if I did not want to face/be the focal point of the picture I could create depth by being out of focus and have something that represents me be in focus. Overall, I was suggested the perspective and nostalgia ideas.
An image I will pursue is the bubbles because I love nostalgia and I am the most happy when I feel like a kid, the image with the hands covered in colorful paint can be used for this as well, another image I might pursue is nature, I enjoy being in comfortable and peaceful environments. I dislike taking pictures of myself and do not enjoy being the focal point so I want to continue the theme of not being very visible.
SUBJECT(sister):
below is a picture of the initial mind map I created for my subject

10 ideas(imagery in order):
- Water and swimming makes her very happy
- Her life goal is to be a nurse, one of her passions
- Enjoys surrounding herself with red and flowers
- Most people don't know she is obsessed with horror and scary movies
- Takes risks, enjoys heights
- Sleeping, needs mental breaks
- Only looks happy on caught of guard pictures
- high maintenance? appearance is important
- How would someone close describe her? dramatic
- Inspired by fashion
Feedback/Images I will pursue:
Some feedback I received was that the images look like they embody/represent different people and it was difficult to tell who my subject really is. I was also suggested to choose an idea that combined her distinct personalities.
The first image I would like to pursue is the nurse because its her passion and it's what keeps her up at night, I am also leaning towards the image that combines makeup with horror because that is an accurate representation of her.
