Prompt: For this major project, you will be tasked with concepting and modeling a scary / spooky / creepy creature using techniques discussed so far in class. Specifically, you will begin by sketching and concepting your creature, sculpting it using Blender's sculpting tools, painting your creature using vertex painting mode, applying hair where necessary, and posing your creature using armatures . Things to consider & accomplish:

When I was drawing my ideas I was leaning towards creating a human/animal morph creature that is why I chose the one that combined spider elements with human. I did make some changes in the detailed sketch, such as the position of the neck and the back legs.

Process:
I started with the basic default shape and started adding the limbs, neck and head. The first two images below were sculpted before I decided to change the creature. I referenced a wolf spider for the head and added the eyes as separate objects. Halfway through sculpting I also started working on the environment. I decided that a dark abandoned basement with brick walls and a concrete floor fit this creature. I added hair to the head as well as the spider legs growing from the body. The vertex painting was pretty simple, I added irritation to the skin by using red and purple around the spider limbs. I also added red dots throughout the body to show that the spider hair is going to start growing. Veins were the last thing I added to the skin.
